Lita Rossana Ford, also called Lita Ford is an American guitar player and singer born in Britain. She was the lead guitarist as a member of The Runaways, a hard-rock band made up of all females in the late 1970s. Their punkish music and provocative lyrics helped them get recognized by the rock world. The group did not have much of a following in their home country of the United States. However, the group's popularity increased abroad especially in Japan. The band broke up in 1979, Ford embarked upon a successful solo career in the world of heavy metal. Following vocal training, she debuted her own solo album, called 'Out for Blood'. This was followed by the release of her second album, 'Dancin on the Edge'. Both albums failed to receive much success and Ford was largely absent from the world of rock for several years. The singer returned with her hit album 'Lita, which debuted in 1988. The hit single 'Kiss Me Deadly' and the ballad "Close My Eyes Forever' were both major hits. The success of her was brief and after a couple of additional years she was absent. Her release of Black in 1995 was followed by fifteen-year delay for the album 'Wicked Wonderland. The year was 2016, and her most recent album, 'Timecapsule', was made available. Guitar Player Magazine gave her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
